AusCloud One

The most feature rich file sync product on the market, built for resellers to manage, designed for businesses to use. Australian cloud storage and Austraian support.  Click here for more details.

Cloud products can be great, but they aren't always the best solution for your clients. Often a hybrid onsite\cloud solution provides the best of both worlds, mobility and flexibility combined with the speed of onsite access. Our products are designed to meet these needs, together with security and user friendliness, to provide an ideal solution for the needs of many medium, small and even micro businesses.

File-sync products

The ability to have your files and folders automatically synchronised with a copy in the cloud that will then synchronise with other devices is not new. Products such as dropbox, owncloud and Box  have been around for a while. However they are not designed for resellers, they are all based overseas and none of them have all the features of AusCloud One.

Backup and recovery products

There are many ways to backup data, but it’s getting it back that is the important part. Auscloud BDR is all about recovery and reducing the RTO (recovery time objectives) and RPOs (recovery point objectives) to minutes rather than hours or even days. At a price that is affordable to almost any businesses.

Designed for small and medium businesses, this product consists of an onsite appliance, offsite storage and the software to run backup, offsite transfers and virtualization of a failed server. There are a range of appliances to suit single server organization up to companies with a number of servers and many terabytes of data. One size does not fit all, we have arrange of BDR appliances designed to accommodate the needs of any business.

How does it work?

The BDR appliance, is a computer running; Windows, shadow protect, virtual box, labtech and our offsite encryption\\transfer software, combined with an offsite storage array in our data center with equal allocated capacity to that on the BDR, plus a portal where you can view information about the storage capacity, latest backups, and set the alerting notifications.

The BDR appliance is designed to be installed at the client site. You then configure it to backup you client’s servers (and workstations if you wish) this is done with shadow protect at the partition level, so everything is backed up on each selected. The first backup is a full backup followed by incremental backups from then on to the BDR appliance, ideally every hour during business hours. As each backup is just an incremental it is quite small and fast so will have no noticeable impact on the rest of the network. Image manager will collapse the incremental images into daily weekly and monthly images in order to keep the chain manageable and reduce storage requirements.

The offsite transfer is encrypted, without the passphrase the backups are inaccessible even to us. As the first backup is full, it is quite large so has to be loaded onto the provided USB disk and shipped to us. Once loaded into our storage array, each night just the changes in data that occurs that day are transferred over the internet. As these transfers are relatively small, a large amount of bandwidth is not required.

That is it, the process is fully automated so you don’t need to do anything else. If there is a problem you will be alerted by email. We do however recommend periodically running a recovery just to prove that it works.

How do I restore

Most restores are likely to be files, folders, databases or even mailboxes people have deleted, or have become corrupted. These can be simply restored using shadow protect, by combining the initial full image and all the incrementals to the point you need to restore from. For historical restores you just choose and earlier restore point.

In a DR situation, shadow protect virtual boot is used to create a virtual image file from the backup chain. This can then be mounted using either hyper V or virtual box, to operate as the failed server.

The failed server can then be recovered using the bare metal restore or virtual server restore at a scheduled time.

In a complete loss of server(s) and BDR appliance, we will load your backup files onto a new BDR appliance and have it couriered out to you. This can then operate as the production server(s) to get the business operational again.

Offsite backup (with onsite option)

There are situations where a BDR may not be suitable for your client, the offsite backup is a low cost option. This product consists of offsite storage and the backup software to run it. After the initial preload, the backup can be configured to run several times each day, backing up only the changes (incremental forever) to our offsite storage array. A simple USB disk can be connected to the client’s server for an onsite backup at no additional cost. Rarely is a server completely destroyed or stolen, so the onsite backup provides a faster restore option for most situations.

How does it work?

Our backup software is installed on all servers and workstation to be backed up. It is recommended to add a USB drive to each device for an onsite backup, in order to facilitate fast restores. The folders that are needed to be backed up are selected, MS exchange server can also be backed up with this product.

The initial backup can be preloaded onto a USB drive and shipped to us, or if the volume of data is quite low, it can all be transferred over the Internet to our storage array from the beginning. After that backups can be set to run several times during the day, with only the changes being backed up each time. The backups are encrypted and can only be decrypted with the passphrase that you set. You can also set the number of previous versions of each file you want to have stored, and how long you want deleted items to remain available for restore.

Alerts can be set to email you if there is a problem, so you don’t have to check it each day, however a periodic restore is recommend to ensure it is all working.

How do I restore

A restore is very simple, you just select the files or folder you want to restore and choose a restore location. You can restore from the local USB drive of from the offsite storage. Should the original computer be lost can install the software onto another computer and restore from there.
